Day 3: Serengeti National Park (CENTRAL)

Early morning after breakfast at your accommodation you will drive straight to Serengeti National Park passing through Ngorongoro Consevation Area where you will have a stop at the crater’s view point before you proceed with your drive to Serengeti. The Serengeti National Park is the largest park on the northern circuit of Tanzania which is originated from a Maasai word “Siringet” meaning endless plains. The park covers approximately 25,000 km2 which harbour the largest remaining unaltered animal migration in the world where over one million wildebeest plus hundreds of thousands of other ungulates engage in a 1,000 km long annual circular trek. The soils’ richness due to volcanic activity combined with the impact of the migration results in one of the most productive ecosystems on earth, sustaining the largest number of ungulates and the highest concentration of large predators in the world than nowhere else on the planet.

The park consists of animals such as buffalos, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, warthogs, jackals, hartebeests etc. The park is also home to more than 500 bird species including the Maasai Ostrich. Serengeti’s scenery is renowned for its grassland plains in the southeast. The northern part of Serengeti is hillier and rocky. To the west on the Grumeti, valleys, rivers and forest can be found. Serengeti has ‘kopjes’, granite outcrops rising up from the plains. It’s an immense landscape and quite stunning – big sky country that feels like untamed wilderness.

After lunch and game drive inside the park, you will drive straight to your carefully selected accommodation for dinner and overnight

Day 4: Central to North Serengeti (Kogatende) following the great migration & Mara river crossing

Early morning after breakfast at your accommodation, we will drive straight to the far north of Serengeti National Park known as Kogatende to follow the great migration of more than a million of wildebeests accompanied by hundred thousands of Zebras and antelopes. During July – October, the wildebeest are in the northern Serengeti plains, and you have a chance of seeing up to thousands crossing the great Mara River. As the sight of the wildebeest crossing the so dramatic, it is considered by many the most desirable time to see the migration. You will not only see the migration of wildebeests but also other animals such as predators hunting their prey and other birds’ species at the area.

After lunch and extensive game viewing, you will drive straight to your carefully selected accommodation for dinner and overnight

Day 7: Ngorongoro crater to Arusha

Early morning after breakfast at your accommodation, you will descend down the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera forming a spectacular bowl of about 265 square kilometres, with sides up to 600 metres deep and is home to approximately 30,000 mammals. The crater floor consists of a number of different habitats that include grassland, swamps, forests and Lakes filled by the Munge River.  All these various environments attract wildlife to drink, wallow, graze, hide or climb.

The crater offers a breathtakingly beautiful scenery and is the best place in East Africa to see the ‘Big Five’ (elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, lion and rarely leopard). Any safari in northern Tanzania should ideally include a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater. It is one of the most beautiful nature safari locations in the world and an extraordinary place to meet people from the Massai tribe.

The Ngorongoro Crater offers excellent birding, with over 500 species. You will have packed picnic lunch boxes with you and after having lunch at the picnic site, you will proceed with game drive until the late afternoon where you will ascend the crater and drive straight to Arusha where your adventures end with us.

If you would like to have an extra night in Arusha, we can arrange that for you or if you are flying, we will drive you straight to the airport to catch your onwards flight.
